Nestled in the heart of Mambal, Bali, the John Hardy compound is made up of a series of low-impact buildings constructed in the traditional Balinese style with bamboo and mud. It is a village life, where one lives with the light and everyone has a role and responsibility in the concert of daily life. Just like the two streams running through the compound, there always seems to be a breeze blowing through the buildings, heirloom rice fields and organic farm. Animals are just as present on the compound, with a confused rooster heralding the day with its four a.m. crows.
