Design Details

A ring of 18 karat white gold featuring a glittering landscape of blue and white precious stones of various shapes — trillion-cut Tanzanite, hexagon and round rose-cut Sapphires, and trillion, hexagon, pear, kite, and shield rose-cut Diamonds — suggestive of the violent beauty of a volcano. Lahar means ‘lava’ in Indonesian. Blue gemstones are associated with trust, fidelity, and intuition. The indestructible Diamond is a stone of absolutes, symbolic of power and the fire of love. Medan Surgawi means ‘heavenly terrain’. The design and making of this one-of-a-kind ring took 123 hours of hand work by a team of master artisans. First the original design was rendered in gouache and then an exact model of the gold was carved by hand (64 hours) before lost-wax casting. The final stage was the setting of the 261 gemstones stones and then polishing.
