John Hardy Debuts First U.S. Flagship Boutique in Soho, New York
December 8, 2016
In November 2016, John Hardy opened our U.S. flagship boutique in New York City’s Soho neighborhood. The flagship offers an authentic shopping experience designed to engage all five senses with the myth and magic of Balinese artisanship. The highlight is an experimental artisan-in-residence concept space on the boutique’s second floor, which will serve as a creative sanctuary for artisans and offer uniquely immersive shopping experiences. Guests will be able to explore our exclusive eight-step jewelry-making process first-hand, and discover the ancient techniques our artisans must master to create each piece of John Hardy jewelry.
As part of our “story of touch” inspiration, the physical space of the new boutique celebrates John Hardy’s roots in Balinese artisanal craftsmanship, with jewelry display tables made from locally sourced black walnut.
These tables recall the communal table in our Ubud Workshop, where special pieces from across our collections are infused with each artisan’s one-of-a-kind touch. An open design is reminiscent of the warm hospitality of the workshop. In celebrating artisanship in its purest form, the celebration also included installations by Mark Colle, a Balinese-inspired night market by food artist Laila Gohar, and signature cocktails by Leo Robitschek.
